Linen closets, we have a love/hate relationship with them. We need them in our homes, they are almost always way too small for our needs, and we tend to overpack them with items we don't use.
This weeks client closets fit the bill, too cluttered with items they did not need anymore and in a little need of some TLC. My client had a few simple requests: declutter and donate, and not to spend any money. Check and check. Simple enough. As my client is looking to downsize and is putting her home on the market, adding additional baskets or bins to use in the closets was not in the cards. Our main goal was to eliminate items, as she would be moving from a 5,000 sq ft home into just shy of 2,000 sq ft. Simple math would tell you not much will be moving with her!

Like most households, we collect too many sets of sheets, too many towels, and numerous blankets and duvets. We eliminated items with missing pieces, items that have paid their dues and items that the sheer number exceeded what was necessary for this family of 2. We also rearranged the cleaning supplies to be up and out of arms reach of grandchildren and tossed any expired medication. Nothing does the job better than regrouping like items and refolding, works wonders on the eyes! After we were finished, we were left with closets that could breath and several bags of donations, without a penny spent. And it is safe to say my client was super relieved!
